Paul Veers has received an Honorary Doctorate at DTU for his leading role in the growth of wind energy globally, receiving lavish praise from colleagues in this video, we produced. We will also praise him for being an exceptional science communicator, and for, even in that capacity, being truly humble and kind about it
“I never know what will come out of my mouth while your camera is rolling.I hope it comes out understandable and useful”.
As video journalists, we normally don’t send questions in advance – We want people and interviewees to give answers that are immediate and authentic – but this time around we did because we had so many of them. Still, we’ve never done an interview with him without everything coming out not only understandable and useful, but also well-articulated and very convincing.
Senior Research Fellow from National Renewable Energy Laboratory in the US, Paul Veers has been the driving force behind the grand challenges papers, uniting more than 100 scientists from the global wind energy community. Thereby, he’s been a central voice in articulating the next big steps needed to advance wind energy globally, including the concept of the wind energy generations, commonly known as ‘Paul’s Pyramid’, which is now used as a reference point in both the strategic work plan of the IEA Wind and in the EERA JP Wind research vision.
